Information about
Simba Safari

In few places does nature present itself in such a majestic manner as in Kenya. With Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, the Great Rift Valley crosses the country from north to south, outlining wooded hills and a wonderful tree-dotted savannah. Epic landscapes peppered with immense herds of zebras and wildebeests, wild predators, and endangered animals. The diversity of traditional tribes such as the Maasai, Swahili, or Turkana adds color and soul to the land.

Aboard a 4x4 vehicle, you will traverse the Great Rift Valley up to the Masai Mara, witnessing how wildlife unfolds unaware of your gaze. The Masai Mara National Reserve is perhaps the most impressive place in all of Kenya. Staying in a campsite within the reserve, you can enjoy photographic safaris in search of the Big Five (lions, rhinoceroses, elephants, leopards, and buffaloes) or follow the steps of the Great Migration if you visit the park between August and October approximately.

The country's coast, washed by the Indian Ocean, is lined with stunning white sand beaches, magnificent coral reefs offering excellent opportunities for diving and snorkeling, lively beach resorts that become the perfect finale to your African adventure.

Itinerary

1

Nairobi (arrival)

Arrival at Nairobi International Airport. Once immigration procedures and baggage collection are completed, we will meet our Spanish-speaking guide who will be waiting for us. Transfer to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free. Depending on the arrival time of the international flight, we will have some free time to rest or the possibility to add an excursion or visit. Nairobi is the fourth largest city in Africa and is also the most cosmopolitan in East Africa. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safaris through Kenya. It is a vibrant and exciting place where you can find varied activities and a lively nightlife. The National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, and the elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are very popular attractions that are well worth a visit.

Day 2

Nairobi - Nakuru Lake

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head west by road towards Lake Nakuru National Park, one of the world's finest bird paradises. Upon arrival, we will proceed to our hotel for check-in, freshen up, and have lunch. In the afternoon, a safari will be conducted around Lake Nakuru, known particularly for its pink flamingos and rhinoceroses. Nakuru is a city on the shores of the lake that bears its name. Located within a reserve that spans almost 200 square kilometers, it is the capital of Nakuru County, situated in the Great Rift Valley. Ten kilometers from the city lies the enormous Menengai crater. A hiking trail leads to the rim of this ancient caldera, offering views over the lake and its surroundings. Lake Nakuru National Park, which surrounds Nakuru, is home to various bird species, as well as more than 50 varieties of mammals. These include lions, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, rhinoceroses, antelopes, and several primates. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3

Nakuru - Masai Mara

Breakfast at the hotel. Next, we will head towards the Masai Mara National Reserve (approximately 5.5 hours) arriving in time for lunch. The Masai Mara, along with Tanzania's Serengeti, forms Africa's most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. Its main attraction is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration that crosses the vast plains of the Serengeti and Masai Mara. Known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet, it involves over a million animals continuously moving in search of water and fresh pastures. Within the reserve, it is also possible to spot the 'Big Five': proud lions, elephants, accompanied by other species such as giraffes, gazelles, among others. Besides traditional vehicle safaris and horseback safaris, hot air balloon flights over the Mara plains have become almost essential. Optional activity: Visit to a Masai village (additional cost, consult your Travel Planner). At sunset, we will enjoy a photographic safari. Dinner and accommodation at the camp.

Day 4

Masai Mara

Full day of safari, with the option to go on a safari at sunrise and sunset and return to the camp for lunch, or take a picnic lunch and spend the entire day on safari. Optional activity: Hot air balloon flight in Masai Mara (additional cost, consult your Travel Planner). Dinner and accommodation at the camp.

Day 5

Masai Mara - Naivasha Lake

Breakfast at the lodge. Next, we will head towards Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a boat ride on the lake. Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley lakes. It is surrounded by papyrus trees and acacias, a unique geological landscape visited by a wide variety of over 450 bird species. It is a natural watering hole frequented by zebras, hippos, and buffaloes, among many others. The rest of the afternoon is free at your disposal with the possibility of engaging in other activities. We recommend combining the boat ride with a walk on Crescent Island (not included, direct payment). Dinner and accommodation at the lodge.

Day 6

Naivasha Lake - Amboseli

Breakfast at the lodge. Next, we will head towards Nairobi via the Nairobi/Mombasa road (a 2-hour drive), then turn west towards Mount Kilimanjaro. We will pass through the typical African savannah dotted with local farms and colorful Maasai shepherds with their cattle. We will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. At 3:30 PM, we will set out again for our first photographic safari in Amboseli National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants. The Amboseli National Park ecosystem spans over 3,000 km² in the southern part of Kenya. There is no other place in Africa where one can find the curious combination of topography, geological history, hydrology, and culture of Amboseli. Despite its moderate rainfall, it has a system of marshes and groundwater fed by Mount Kilimanjaro, which sustains the life of a spectacular variety of birds and mammals. Amboseli is one of Kenya's most popular destinations and is home to the country's largest elephant population, as well as buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, and hippos. Dinner and accommodation at the lodge.

Amboseli - Nairobi
