Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside is situated in the Sabie Game Reserve, considered by many as South Africa's premier private reserve. Located on the banks of the seasonal Sand River, Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside is perfectly positioned in one of the prime Big Five viewing destinations.

The lodge ensures guests enjoy a personal, rustic, and authentic South African safari experience without sacrificing comfort. The lodge comprises ten rooms, most with views of the Sand River. Guests often spot elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and antelopes grazing along the riverbed. Additional facilities include a pool, lounge area, bar, and dining area, as well as a traditional boma where delicious and hearty South African meals are served.

The Sabie reserve is home to the "big five" (elephant, rhinoceros, lion, leopard, and buffalo), as well as cheetahs, wild dogs, and hundreds of other species of animals, birds, and indigenous plants.

Umkumbe Safari Lodge offers two animal viewing safaris per day, in open 4x4 vehicles. During the morning drive, there's a coffee stop, and on the afternoon drive, there's a sunset drink stop before experiencing a night drive to view nocturnal animals not seen during the day.

For the more energetic, each day after breakfast, there's an option for a morning bush walk guided by qualified rangers.
