Every year, with the arrival of the dry season, millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles migrate north in search of pastures, crossing the famous Mara River and the border with Kenya, then returning to Tanzania during the last months of the year. The migration attracts large predators, making the Serengeti one of the best places to spot big cats.
In addition to its imposing nature, the Serengeti is the land of the Maasai, semi-nomadic herders who move through these lands with their livestock, faithful to their fascinating traditions and centuries-old culture.
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Although less known than Ngorongoro and Serengeti, Tarangire is another National Park worth visiting during a trip to Tanzania.
Located about 150 kilometers from Arusha, the landscape of Tarangire is completely different from the other parks in the north of the country: the savanna is populated by acacia trees and majestic baobabs. In the hollow interior of these ancient trees, poachers used to hide their trophies. The baobabs also represent one of the favorite foods of the elephants living in Tarangire, which turns out to be the best park in the country for spotting these pachyderms.
