Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the magnificent Grand Mosque built with sandstone and marble. A beautiful Swarovski chandelier and a huge handmade Persian carpet adorn the main prayer hall. After an architectural competition to select the best design for the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, its construction took over six years. Please consider the dress code for visiting the Grand Mosque: Women must completely cover their hair, arms, and legs; men must wear long trousers and a shirt. Visits are not possible on Fridays. Visit the charming Wadi Bani Khalid. Drive past the village with its endless date plantations to reach the magnificent wadi. The pools are cool, deep, and absolutely stunning. Feel free to dive in and experience the crystal-clear waters. Arrival at the entrance to Wahiba Sands (also known as Sharqiya Sands). The dunes stretch 200 km long and 100 km wide to the Arabian Sea and have been home to the Bedouins for 7,000 years. You can venture into the high dunes and witness the unforgettable sunset in the desert, before gently driving through the sand dunes to reach the camp. Breakfast at the camp. Visit Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman. Explore the 17th-century Nizwa fort with its vast tower and magnificent views of the oasis. In the bustling nearby souk, you will find local products such as Omani daggers (khanjar), copper and silver jewelry, livestock, fish, vegetables, and handicrafts for sale. Discover Jibrin Castle, a large rectangular building consisting of five floors and containing 55 rooms. This castle is distinguished by the inscriptions and frescoes that adorn its rooms. The castle’s ceilings are decorated with paintings and Islamic inscriptions, and its doors are beautifully carved. A falaj runs through the center of the castle. Photo opportunity at Birkat Al Mouz, one of Oman’s most famous ruined villages. With a large banana plantation and picturesque surroundings, the site also houses the ancient irrigation system (or falaj), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Breakfast at the hotel. Discover Jebel Akhdar (the green mountain). It is neither green nor a single mountain, but a large gray-brown massif covering more than 1,800 sq km with several peaks, rising to nearly 3,050 meters. The mountain range is dotted with Omani villages and in many areas, the villagers have carved terraces into parts of the mountain for cultivation. Wadi Bani Habib is one of several interesting villages situated on the vast plateau. Jebel Akhdar is also famous for rose water distillation. Of the thousands of rose varieties, only a few produce the fragrant oil needed to make rose water, with 'damascina' being one of the most famous of this prized variety.
