Visit to the Karen Blixen House Museum & Giraffe Center

Built in 1912, this house was the residence of Karen Blixen until 1931 when she returned to Denmark. Located in the Ngong colonies, the house is about 15 km south of Nairobi. Hence, it has become one of the most popular visits. You can immerse yourself in the settings of the movie as the interior preserves her original furniture and some of her belongings. The gardens, surrounded by hills, are a pleasant place to stroll while recalling some scenes from the famous movie.

The Giraffe Center was founded in 1979 as a home and refuge for the endangered Rothschild giraffes. Over the years, it has become a sanctuary for these animals. During your visit, you can learn more about the inhabitants of the center who often come to greet their visitors.

On the way back to the hotel, we will stop at an Utamaduni craft store where we can buy some souvenirs.

*Optional: we recommend stopping at Tamambo Karen Blixen Coffee Garden for lunch. A pleasant restaurant located within the former estate of Karen Blixen (not included in the price).
